The second day of our bus pass we used to take us to "The Bridge". Surprisingly to us easterners we are mostly unaware of the islands and of course bridges surrounding Vancouver and area. But without a doubt this particular one is not for the "faint of heart". You step down about 5 steps on to a SWAYING suspension bridge. It stretches nearly 500 ft across and over 200 ft above the ground. There is enough space for a line of people entering and exiting touching shoulders as they pass. It is quite an experience to walk over look down and watch the river flow below. What truly makes it worthwhile is then the walkway to the stairs platforms and bridges that are connected. It is truly a walk thru the treetops. Reminded me a bit of Sean Connery in the movie "Medicine Man". Unbelievable feeling of euphoria each step taken thru this nature walk. Each platform is connected to a Douglas Fir in such a way no damage is done to the tree. Once again guides reading posts interactive material ad of course you know I bought the t-shirt that reads "I survived the Capilano Bridge. Once again a beautiful day all ways round. When it was regretfully time to leave we were informed us bus had broken down. No problem within 20 min another company provided us with transportation back to our hotel. A slight change of plans but make use by having another walk thru Gastown and had dinner at an outdoor cafe. Eventually making our way back to the hotel which is centrally located easy walking distance . Certainly no late nights after these days. Saved all the blogging for the train which was a good idea. Of course doing it now because it is still within recall.
