What do you do on a Friday nite when
you are new in town. You read the
local paper. This is a habit I have
picked up over the years. I read that
there is a Celeigh going on around
the corner @ 8 o'clock that night.
We were entertained by a very talented
young woman on the fiddle, a young
man on the guitar and a older man
closer to our age on guiter. Two hours
of storytelling, music and song. An
intermission of 15 min with sandwiches
and coffe served admission $8. Proceeds
going to The Benevolent Irish Society
for the ongoing renovations to their
building. What a musical night.
Now if that wasn't enough......at the
intermission as we stood up to stretch
and a conversation ensued with the
couple behind us. Pauline and Gerald
Gillis retirees from Mississauga
living down here. Pauline originally
from the Island and Gerald originally
from Cape Breton Island. Both had left
way back in the 60's but chose to
retire here. The cost of housing is
very low with a lot of houses for sale
. The main reason being the unemployment
situation. By the time the intermission
was over we were invited to drop over
for coffee the next morning
